    The Job

    Technical stack: 

    • Java 8, Spring MVC, Web Services, Apache Tomcat, Elastic Search, Oracle 12c, ActiveMQ, Hadoop, Javascript/jQuery, CanJS, Migrating to AWS, CI/CD. On our automated test side Selenium, Unirest & TestNG.

    Globoforce is a leading provider of social recognition solutions, making workplaces more human worldwide. We have an award winning, enterprise level SaaS based solution, which is highly scalable, with a single code base, superb quality code and a great UI. 

    Our SaaS solutions have been very successful with our global current customer base whom we are incredibly proud to serve. 


    To take Globoforce products to the next level, we are exploring avenues through which prospective customers can discover, sign-up, engage with and be highly successful using our powerful solutions to bring about a culture of positivity and feedback in their organizations.  


    We want to achieve this in a way that allows us to scale to a large number of customers, via a low-touch, Self-Service model, that provides a delightful user experience. 

    It’s an exciting new direction for Globoforce and your chance to be involved from the offset in this highly strategic and green field project.  


    Here's just some of what you will be doing; 


    We’re building an A-Team to help us deliver our new Self Service model. We’re now looking for a hands-on Technical Lead (Java) who’s excited about playing an instrumental role in driving the design and development for our newest SaaS solution.  


    • Act as Technical Leader for a Product Feature Area, with responsibility for design, delivery and support of high-quality engineering solutions to meet goals and milestones.  (Java)
    • Shape the technical direction and deliver the best technical version of the solution. You will work with a team of Developers and Automation Engineers (on-shore & offshore, front and back end), collaborating closely with our Scrum Master, Product Owner, UX Designers and Software Architects. You’ll also have regular C- level visibility (CEO, CTO, VP Product) in delivery. 
    • Be an Agile advocate and push for best practices in the areas of development practices (including secure coding), quality assurance, continuous integration, test automation and deploy-on-demand 
    • Collaborate with Product and Engineering Management to determine release scope and ensure that features meet requirements 
    • Collaborating with multiple teams including architects, UX staff, product managers and any other stakeholders who contribute to delivery in your team’s area
    • Ensure a positive and fast paced environment is fostered and maintained on your team 
    • Be actively involved in hiring and growing our engineering team including managing remote staff.  


    Responsibilities, Skills & Qualifications

    Skills and Experience 


    Here’s some of what will make your application successful;  


    • A hands-on techie – from a Java Stack background. (5/6+ years)
    • Some experience (or interest in) providing technical leadership for at least 2 years upwards either currently as technical lead or as principle engineer looking for your next career step.
    • Experience shaping and guiding Java technical solutions - collaborating with technical teams including; on and off shore developers, architects, QA, product, UX/UI on solutions design.
    • Experience managing successful technical delivery including; risk assessment, guiding, organising and motivating the teams to deliver.
    • Track record of continuous improvements in the SDLC, working with your team to generate ideas and implement improvements. Your leadership style will be based on empowering people to come up with their own solutions
    • Experience working with senior level Executives (C level) including status reporting, progress updates, bi weekly calls/meetings etc. 


    Soft skills:  

    • Respectful - Excellent influencing skills - collaborative and open in your approach – strong problem solving and critical analysis skills – excellent communication skills.
