Globoforce employs a unique business model that combines a sophisticated SaaS platform with an ecommerce-based redemptions experience that enables the employees at our partner clients to purchase merchandise, gift cards, services and experiences with the points they receive through our recognition program.  Our mission as an ecommerce team is to engage and inspire this captive audience and delight our customers with the content, site experience, and assortment that makes each recognition moment truly special and memorable.

The Job

The Opportunity:

 

We are seeking an analytical merchandiser with a great eye for visuals and creative to lead our promotions and visual merchandising strategy for our ecommerce business.  In this role you will develop the vision and plan for our customer-facing, limited time promotional program through a combination of data analytics and a deep understanding of our customers and the motivations that drive their redemption purchases.  You will curate and negotiate compelling promotions, events and collections with our vendor base to excite and delight our customers and make their redemption and purchase experience memorable, while driving engagement and revenue and profitability growth for the company.  This is a highly collaborative and cross-functional role, as you will be working across the entire ecommerce team, Creative, Product & Technology, Operations and Marketing to achieve your goals.  This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking to gain leadership and GM experience in a role that balances data analytics and business acumen with creativity and visual merchandising.  You will gain access to leadership, work on solving some of our most interesting challenges across our ecommerce business, and play a highly visible role that touches every area of the company.   

The position will report to the Director of ECommerce Merchandising.

Responsibilities, Skills & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Build and execute a cross-category promotional strategy that incorporates both short-term flash-style events and discounted seasonal collections to excite our customers and drive increased redemptions volume at healthy profit margins
  • Design on-site experiences in partnership with Marketing, Creative, Product & Technology that support both every-day and promotional offering to inspire our customers and drive urgency around purchasing cycle
  • Drive data-based process improvements across promotional and merchandising calendar development, supplier negotiations and integration, and internal tool development to increase efficiencies and program effectiveness
  • Infuse analytics into our promotional and merchandising processes and both strategic and day-to-day decisions, utilizing a combination of internal purchase and site metrics, market and seasonal trends, and competitive analyses
  • Partner with E-Commerce Product and Technology teams to design and develop technology enhancements to support promotions and merchandising road maps and goals
  • Develop customer communication program (email, push notifications, etc.) in partnership with Marketing and Product to advertise our promotional offering and drive site traffic
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver on plans and constantly evolve our offering – including Sales, Customer Success, Product, Marketing, Creative, Operations, and Customer Service
  • Manage vendor partnerships and negotiations for inclusion in our promotional and merchandising calendar and plans
  • Serve as internal expert on promotional and merchandising best practices, industry trends, ways to stay ahead of the competition
  • Support client and prospect needs by serving as the expert on our promotional offering and merchandising capabilities and providing regular data, presentations, and general input into sales and retention pitches and incorporating client needs and interests into our merchandising strategy
  • Build, manage and mentor a team of Event Buyers and Merchandisers to deliver on goals

 

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience (Retail, Ecommerce, or Consulting or another client-facing industry preferred)
  • MBA or equivalent number of years of experience
  • Articulate and persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly collaborative and effective working cross-functionally
  • Entrepreneurial leader and resourceful self-starter who can both set the vision and the plan and execute on the details to get the job done
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Experience with the creative side of merchandising and an eye for product and promotional presentations
  • Creative and innovative problem solving
  • Experience managing and coaching a team
