ECommerce at Globoforce:

Globoforce employs a unique business model that combines a sophisticated SaaS platform with an ecommerce-based redemptions experience that enables the employees at our partner clients to purchase merchandise, gift cards, services and experiences with the points they receive through our recognition program.  Our mission as an ecommerce team is to engage and inspire this captive audience and delight our customers with the content, site experience, and assortment that makes each recognition moment truly special and memorable. 


We are in rapid expansion mode across the organization and are building the ecommerce team needed to shape and execute on our vision and plan for taking our redemptions experience and offering to the next level, further differentiating us in the space and supporting our overall business growth.  In joining the ecommerce team at this exciting stage, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our overall business and success metrics and will gain unparalleled experience in building a dynamic and robust ecommerce offering and customer experience.  You will work alongside the VP of Ecommerce and other leaders across the organization and will learn every side of our business as we execute on our cross-functional goals.  This is an excellent opportunity for an entrepreneurial, analytical problem-solver who can tackle a diverse range of challenges and is looking to gain leadership experience in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.    

The Job

The Opportunity:

This is a unique General Management opportunity for a driven and entrepreneurial leader to make an immediate impact on our eCommerce business by building the strategic vision for Globoforce’s merchandising function, including buying, promotional strategy, and on-site visual merchandising, as well as building the team to support these initiatives. In this role, you will partner closely with the VP of eCommerce and other leaders across the eComm business and cross-functionally to develop and drive the overall eComm agenda and strategy. This position will provide significant exposure to leadership across the organization and growth and learning opportunities across eCommerce and our B2B/Saas model. 


The position will report to the VP of eCommerce.

Responsibilities, Skills & Qualifications


  • Lead a team of Category Managers, Buyers and Merchandisers to deliver a differentiated and exciting offering of products, gift cards and services to delight our customers and grow our business with both new and existing clients
  • Develop and execute category and merchandising strategies across merchandise, gift card, and experiences offering that align to the needs and interests of our customer base and that drive revenue and profit growth for the company
  • Build and execute a cross-category promotional strategy that incorporates both short-term flash-style events and discounted seasonal collections to excite our customers and drive increased redemptions volume at healthy profit margins
  • Drive data insights into action to guide strategic planning across entire e-comm business
  • Partner with Technology, Product, and Creative teams to evolve our approach to visual merchandising and to continually improve the site experience to get customers excited about our offering and to drive maximum revenue and profitability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in Sales, Customer Success, Product, Marketing, Customer Service, and Operations to deliver a best-in-class e-commerce experience and optimize our product and offering for client sales, retention, and overall company growth
  • Drive process improvements across e-comm offering, internal tools, and supplier integration in collaboration with Operations
  • Lead market analyses to drive continual innovation around our offering, identifying opportunities for growth and differentiation vs. our competitive set and setting and leading the agenda to continually diversify our portfolio
  • Serve as e-commerce expert both internally and externally and as an evangelist for your plan and roadmap with internal stakeholders and outside clients
  • Attend client and prospect meetings to represent the e-commerce side of the business, pitch our current offering and benefits, discuss client needs and provide expertise around our ability to meet those needs and maximize program success
    • Build direct relationships with key new and existing suppliers, driving high priority negotiations around buying, selection, pricing and operations
    • Build, manage, and coach a team of ~10-15 to deliver on your strategic plans
    • Travel ~10-15% to meet with vendors as well as new and existing clients


Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience; prior work experience in e-commerce, consulting, or other technology-driven environment preferred
  • MBA from a top tier school or similar degree desired
  • Entrepreneurial leader – ability to develop and lead strategy while getting down in the weeds with the team to drive fast and effective execution with limited resources
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results in an unstructured environment
  • Strong negotiation skills with an ability to coach and develop others around persuasive communication
  • Collaborator who thrives on teamwork and has a demonstrated ability to accomplish goals by working cross-functionally; an evangelist who can get stakeholders on board with a plan and leverage cross-functional resources to get things done
  • Highly analytical problem-solver who uses data to back all decisions big and small
  • Experience recruiting and managing a high-performing team
